This is very floral and perfumed on the nose, with wild bramble fruit and leafy forest floor undertones, leading to a polished palate, with bright, refreshing acidity. Checking in as a blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc aged 12 months in 35% new French oak, the 2023 Château Labégorce is a rocking little gem in the vintage. Red, blue, and black fruits, spring flowers, graphite, and tobacco all shine on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a round, supple, seductive mouthfeel, soft tannins, and a great finish. It will keep for 20 years or more. Drink 2026-2046.
The 2023 Labégorce is a very pretty, aromatic Margaux. Crushed flowers, cedar, pipe tobacco and mocha are all nicely delineated in this lifted, perfumed offering. There's a lovely sense of restraint in the 2023.
The 2023 Labégorce has a well-defined bouquet with vivacious redcurrant, strawberry and violet scents that could only come from Margaux. The oak is neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannins, well-judged acidity that lends just the right amount of tension. Lightly spiced on the finish that lingers in the mouth with pleasing saline notes on the aftertaste. This should age well in bottle.
About the producer
Historically Château Labégorce was one of the largest estates in the Médoc. It was originally owned by the Grosse family (or Gorce – hence the name) whose ownership dates back to the 14th century.
