Another pure, graceful, beautifully balanced Saint-Emilion, the 2023 Château La Serre offers red and black fruits, sappy flowers, violets, and some exotic, almost tropical nuances on the nose. Based on 73% Merlot and 27% Cabernet Franc and aged in 50% new French oak with the balance in once-used barrels, it's medium-bodied on the palate and has a fresh, focused mouthfeel, polished tannins, and a great finish. Give it 2-3 years and enjoy over the following 15 or more. Drink 2029-2044.

The 2023 La Serre is a bold, punchy wine. Dark-toned fruit, new leather, menthol, chocolate and dried herbs are all front and center. The tannins are a bit burly, but it works well in this style. La Serre will make a fine bistro Saint-Émilion. Tasted two times.

The 2023 La Serre, often one of my favourites from barrel in the J-P Moueix stable, has a delightful bouquet with raspberry and wild strawberry, just a little chestnut in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly grainy tannins. Well balanced, open with touches of brown spice, this is a lilting Saint-Émilion that will give much pleasure over the next decade or more.

Lots of cassis, darker cherry and mulberry fruits, as well as spice and a beautiful sense of minerality emerge from the 2023 Château La Serre, a medium to full-bodied, pure, elegant, seamless Saint-Emilion offering fine, polished tannins, a solid mix of richness and freshness, nicely integrated oak, and outstanding length. I love its overall purity and balance.
