Red and black fruits, loamy earth, graphite, and floral nuances all emerge from the 2023 Château La Dominique, a solid effort from this terrific estate located in the northern portion of the appellation, not far from the Pomerol border. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a supple, layered, elegant mouthfeel and is nicely balanced, with a great finish. It's a beautiful, classy La Dominique to drink over the coming two decades. Drink 2026-2046.

The 2023 La Dominique is delicate and classy. Silky tannins grace this mid-weight, nuanced Saint-Émilion. All the elements are very nicely balanced. The 2023 is super classy. Floral overtones weave through the mid-palate and into the layered, beautifully persistent finish.
The 2023 La Dominique takes time to open on the nose, revealing blackberry, undergrowth, loamy and light bay leaf scents that unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. This is well balanced with crisp black fruit laced with black pepper, quite linear on the finish, more classical in style and all the better for it. This should age with grace in bottle and may warrant a higher score.
There’s freshness and brightness, with aromas of raspberries, orange peel, cedar and dried flowers. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a crisp and crunchy finish. 88% merlot and 12% cabernet franc. Drinkable now, but better in three years.

This 29-hectare estate’s site speaks for itself, neighbouring Cheval Blanc, Figeac, Evangile and La Conseillante at the northwestern edge of Saint-Emilion, where the appellation meets Pomerol.
