Tasting notes
The 2023 Croix-Mouton is deep garnet-purple in color. It is a little broody and reduced to start off, with notes of tar, rubber, and damp soil opening out to scents of baked plums and mulberries. The medium-bodied palate delivers a chewy texture and appealing freshness, going a touch rugged on the finish.

Revealing elegant aromas of mulberries, dark wild berries and spices, the 2023 Croix Mouton is medium-bodied, charming and enveloping with a succulent mid-palate that segues into an elegant, taut finish. This blend of 80% Merlot and the rest of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot is a terrific effort.
A touch of spiky acidity on the opening beats, there is plump fruit underneath, and this is a reliable estate that just skirts full ripeness in the vintage. 75ha. Located on Lugon Ile du Carney, owner Bertrand Ravanche, director Pascal Lucin, overseen by Jean François Janoueix.
