The 2023 Château Joanin Bécot has a beautiful limestone character in its juicy red berry fruits as well as snappy spring flowers, crushed stone, and subtle graphite-like aromatics. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and aged 14 months in 22% new French oak with the balance in neutral barrels, tanks, amphora, and foudre, it's medium-bodied and elegant on the palate, with a pure, layered mouthfeel, fine tannins, and a great finish. There are 72,000 bottles produced. Drink 2026-2038.

The 2023 Joanin-Bécot is superb. Crushed flowers, mint, sweet pipe tobacco and a good dose of Franc savoriness all grace this exquisite Côtes de Bordeaux. All the elements are very nicely balanced. This is a stellar showing from proprietors Juliette Bécot and Julien Barthe.

The 2023 Château Joanin Bécot comes from limestone soils in the Castillon region and is mostly Merlot with 20% Cabernet Franc. It’s deep ruby/plum-hued and displays a gorgeous limestone character in its black raspberry and redcurrant-like fruits as well as spring flowers, spice, and chalky minerality. Brought up 65% new oak and hitting 14.7% alcohol, it's beautifully ripe, has medium-bodied richness, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. This is a hidden little gem of a wine.

Cherries, flowers, crushed rocks, and stones, licorice, black plums, and cocoa display in the perfume. On the palate, the wine is loaded with sweet, ripe, black raspberries, cherries, and chocolate, with a refreshing salty-mint accent on the backend. The wine is a blend of 80% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Franc. 14.1% ABV, 3.5 pH. The wine is produced from some of the oldest vines in the appellation, with the oldest vines dating back to 1870!
