Tasting notes
Red and black fruits, leather, leafy herbs, and some sappy flower and cedary nuances all emerge from the 2023 Château Coufran, a medium-bodied, juicy, focused, and elegant Haut-Médoc. Based on 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 12 months in 25% new French oak, it has present yet integrated tannins and a good finish. It's another balanced, classic, incredibly satisfying 2023 that will have 15+ years of overall longevity. Give it a year or three if you can. Drink 2028-2041.

The 2023 Coufran has a pleasant bouquet, well-defined with blackberry and red plum scents, a touch of black pepper tucked underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins but clean black fruit with light cedar and tobacco scents furnishing the finish. Drink over the next decade.
The 2023 Château Coufran is terrific, with a richer, balanced, medium-bodied style as well as impressive red and black fruits, ripe yet present tannins, ample chocolaty oak, and a great finish. It should drink nicely right out of the gate yet also evolve for a solid decade.
Chocolate, black cherries, licorice, just a hint of espresso, and mint fill the nose, and the medium-bodied, bright, dusty, savory palate.
