Good deep red. Great soil-driven nose offers black raspberry, dried flowers, musky roast coffee, beef stock, soy sauce and bone marrow. Sweet and round but taut and utterly vibrant, conveying an impression of solidity without weight. Utterly captivating today but has the intensity and verve for a slow and positive evolution in bottle. The impressively long finish features noble ripe tannins and lingering notes of raspberry and smoked meat.

The 2010 Chambertin-Clos de Beze is a big wine bursting with dark blue and black fruit, violets, mint and licorice. The Beze fleshes out in all directions, showing remarkable depth and fullness through to a finish supported by firm yet polished tannins. This is another impressive showing. Anticipated maturity:2020-2030. (Not yet released) Importer: Skurnik Wines, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300

Less bretty than some of his others, allowing the fruit to register – much better! Has fruit that is still alive and pulsing acidity to match. Great earthiness too. (RH)

Good red-ruby. Captivating, multidimensional nose combines cherry pie, wild spices, licorice, cocoa powder, flowers and Iberico ham. Suave, precise and very intense but youthfully closed, with a note of orange zest contributing to the impression of perfume and lift. Wonderfully light on its feet and very long and suave on the aftertaste, finishing with noble, fine-grained tannins. Magnien says this very young wine won't be bottled until April or May.
