Tasting notes
The 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori is laced with black cherry, plum, new leather, licorice and spice. Ample and expansive in feel, the 2021 is wonderfully generous, not to mention incredibly delicious. Fruit sources are from some of the most coveted sites in the appellation.

This wine sees its fruit sourced from multiple villages: San Casciano, Gaiole, Castellina and Greve. The 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori is not married to a specific subzone of the appellation because it seeks to embrace a house style rather than a vineyard identity. Aged in tonneaux with some barrique, the wine is rich and lasting but not large. In fact, it remains elegant on the palate with fine tannins and good fruit tension with cherry and blue flowers.
San Donato in Poggio. Sangiovese and ‘other varieties’. Dark ruby. Leafy cherry fruit with notes of cherry liqueur on the nose. Similar lushness of tangy cherry fruit to the Marchese Antinori but with rustic, slightly drying tannins dominating the finish. (WS)
