Tasting notes
With fruit from Monforte d'Alba, the Manzone 2019 Barolo Gramolere offers a combination of plump redcurrant and sweet oak spice. You taste the fruit and the winemaking, and both sides of this Barolo are delivered with good intensity. Ultimately, aromas from the oak aging supersede those of the fruit, and you are left with a dry mouthfeel and toasted flavors. The tannins are dry and smooth.

Monforte d’Alba. Mid-to-deep ruby with orange tinges. Complex, savoury oak over still-subdued, soft, aromatic red fruit. Quite gorgeous on the palate with juicy, ripe raspberry fruit and crunchy tannins. Can already be approached. (WS)
The 2019 Barolo Gramolere is a brilliant, classically austere wine that will delight readers who enjoy linear, taut Barolos. All the elements are so well balanced. Crushed flowers, mint, pine, spice and lavender are some of the many notes that grace this ethereal but deep, super-expressive Barolo.
