Sourced (like its vintage 2016 predecessor) from Kirchspiel and to a much lesser degree from Abtserde, this delivers ripe apple and kiwi on the nose as well as in juicy profusion on a buoyant, polished, subtly glossy palate. The consummately refreshing, vibrantly tingling finish – with its invigorating suggestions of lime zest and kiwi seed – reveals impeccably judged sweetness and is strikingly transparent to chalky, stony nuances as well as laced with saliva-liberating salinity.

Intense lemon and apricot fruit modulated by a light dusty minerality that I associate with the limestone site. Very pure and gently creamy. Off-dry and rounded in the mouth but shot through with bright lemon and apricot purity. Intense but so lively. A beauty. (JH)
Cask sample. Several different parcels. TA 11 g/l. RS 40 g/l. Very mineral and almost spicy on the nose even though there’s intense bright citrus fruit – lemon and grapefruit. Like the Scheurebe Kabinett, amazing intensity and purity. Incredible balance between the ripe citrus and the super-high but balanced acidity. Eye-watering freshness and yet it is still elegant. Amazing length. Sweet but balanced. Electric. (JH)
