Tasting notes
The Borgo del Tiglio 2022 Collio Ronco della Chiesa (in the dark green label) is another inspiring expression from one of Italy's most exciting white-wine artisans. The grape is Friulano (aged in barrique for 10 months), and the complexity that has been pulled out of this single variety is extraordinary. The wine builds in intensity, imparting white peach, nectarine, poached pear and crushed limestone. There are hints of baked sweet bread or buttery croissant. The wine offers medium fruit weight with balanced acidity. This is a gorgeous wine, and that quality clearly comes from the fruit more than the winemaking. It delivers so much in a totally natural way. Only 2,600 bottles were made.

The 2022 Ronco della Chiesa is decidedly spicy and savory in the glass, wafting up with a burst of rosemary, musky lime and crushed stone. This is lifted and energetic, with a silken wave of citrus-tinged orchard fruits and mineral tones that add a more tactile feel toward the close. The 2022 tapers off youthfully tense with a tropical flourish of green melon and perfumed inner florals. The Ronco della Chiesa is a varietal Tocai Friulano.
About the producer

Borgo del Tiglio is one of Italy's great hidden gems. A devastating landslide in November 2025 destroyed the estate's cellars, leaving the future of the historic Ronco della Chiesa vineyard uncertain.
