A saturated magenta color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Vigna Marrucheto is ripe and inviting with wonderful aromas of kirsch, pressed lavender, pine, and balsamic herbs. Full-bodied, it floods the palate with savory ripe tannins, earthy richness, and notes of tea leaf throughout. A richly textured wine with a lot to offer, it will show at its best if given several years of cellar time. Drink 2026-2040.

The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Marrucheto grumbles up with a blend of savory plum sauce, sage, cocoa and brown spice. It soothes with its soft and enveloping textures, further lifted by juicy acidity. A wave of tart wild berry fruits and minerals cascades across the palate. A web of edgy tannins lingers along with a bitter tinge of clove and dark, dark chocolate as the 2019 finishes structured and long, leaving the slightest trace of licorice. The Vigna Marrucheto continues to impress me with its complexity and balance, yet as is usually the case, it will require serious patience.

Dark ruby. Deep, concentrated dark fruit and cherry with savoury oak notes. Rich, but not sweet, cherry and dark fruit with minty oak notes underneath. Long and with lots of juice and with fine coating tannins. I am eagerly waiting for this to step up its game and show real cru pedigree, but this is undeniably well made. Ready now. (WS)

Very regular year in the vineyards. A fresh year; late harvest to get the phenolic ripeness. Cask sample. Deep crimson. Cool cherry nose with minerally salty notes. Ripe and a little richer on the palate than the 2020 and 2021 cask samples. Supple fruit framed by bags of grainy tannins. Lots of promise and possesses real class. (WS)
