The Series C is Vilafonté’s top wine, a Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend. Harvested 10 days later than the Series M in 2021, it’s a tight and concentrated wine. The dark, sweet, baked fruit is rich – layered and complex. With intensity and a furry tannic framework, this is a baby that needs time to offer. Bold in style, this is a powerhouse. Aged in 81% new French oak for 22 months, 67 barrels were made. Blend: 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 10% Malbec, 7% Cabernet Franc

Flirting with triple digits, the 2021 Series C is constructed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Still incredibly tight yet exuding that special “it” factor, the red blend is layered with gorgeous dark red and succulent black fruit tones with gobs of attractive oak essences that sway with power and finesse. If you're a cult California Cabernet collector, you'll want to add this to your cellar as fast as possible. Just under 20,000 bottles rested for about two years in French oak barrels, 81% new. It's utterly profound.
The 2021 Series C comprises 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 10% Malbec and 7% Cabernet Franc, matured for 22 months in 81% new oak (much higher than the Series M) and the rest, 2nd and 3rd fill. The concentrated nose offers blackberry, wild strawberry, cedar and light pencil box aromas. Maybe if you wanted to compare, more Pensacola than Médoc, which is no surprise given the blend. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins, very fresh and vibrant, with gentle grip building towards a fleshy finish considering the growing season. There’s a lovely, persistent black pepper-infused aftertaste. Superb.
