Cask sample. Broader, weighty premier cru. Still has the unmistakable Chablis fingerprint. Fresh acidity, mineral thread, impressive. (AWH)

The 2020 Chablis Les Butteaux 1er Cru, aged in two eight-year-old 600-liter barrels, offers enticing scents of Conference pear and green apple on the nose; a slight smoky trait emerges with time. The harmonious palate is fresh and vibrant, with a fine line of acidity and veins of white peach and dried apricot lending a scintilla of exoticism toward the otherwise linear finish. Superb.
