Tasting notes
Loads of wild raspberries, strawberries, and cherries can be discerned in the aromatics of the medium-bodied 2000 Musigny. This elegant, delicately-styled wine is complex, concentrated, and pure. Its flavorful, silky-textured character offers flavors reminiscent of cherry-scented pipe tobacco, spices, and plums. A soft, supple effort, it is a candidate for drinking over the next 7 years. Good full red. Pungent, brooding aromas of raspberry, black cherry and blood orange. Dense, thick and deep, with saline soil tones and complex notes of woodsmoke, pungent baking spices, flowers and minerals. Finishes very strong, with tangy redcurrant, peppery spices and a note of oaky torrefaction. Seems clearly more successful than the '99 version.
