Tasting notes
The 2018 Mâcon Vergisson La Roche comes from the free-run juice only and was matured in 20% new oak, with six months of bâtonnage. This has more amplitude on the nose compared to the Montbrison, offering peach slices, pineapple and hints of guava. Gorgeous! The palate is very well balanced with a waxy-textured, pithy opening. This is very complex and taut, yet it shows real persistence on the ginger and lemongrass-tinged finish. Superb.

One of the highlights of the range this year is the exceptional 2018 Mâcon-Vergisson La Roche, a lovely wine that unfurls in the glass with aromas of mandarin oil, pear and citrus blossom. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with good concentration, lively acids and a fragrant finish. This was Verget's last pick this year, and it was raised in 20% new wood. It's a wine to purchase by the case.
