Tasting notes
Another of Lignier's more serious communal bottlings is the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Seuvrées, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and youthfully tightly wound wine that's evocative of plums, cassis, rich soil and dark chocolate. This will reward some bottle age.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Seuvrées comes from 1.02 hectares of vines, a massale selection planted by Laurent Lignier’s grandfather just after the war. It has a complex bouquet that defies its Village Cru status thanks to the venerability of the low-yielding vines, mineral-infused black fruit, a touch of graphite and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with good concentration. Quite structured black fruit laced with graphite towards the finish. Excellent - but serious!
