Tasting notes
Cool-toned and classic, the 2006 Mille e Una Notte is impossibly young, with a woodland-inspired bouquet of pine shavings and cloves complicated by underbrush, tobacco and dried black cherries. It sweeps across the palate with ease, soft in texture yet building acid-driven tension as tart red and black fruits saturate toward the close. This finishes with dramatic length and is still notably structured, closing with a pleasantly bitter and slightly crunchy sensation as sour citrus tones fade. Amazing

Mainly Nero d’Avola. Rich and vibrant, good raciness. Velvety texture, certainly a hot-climate wine with just a bit of heat on the finish but it’s showy in an interesting way. Bit dry on the end but flashily appealing. (JR)
The 2006 Mille e Una Notte boasts incredible concentration and richness in its super-ripe blueberries, blackberry jam, graphite, minerals, cassis and licorice. This is decidedly more voluptuous and opulent than the Tancredi, and the richness of the fruit helps to balance the tannins to a greater extent. Smoke, tar and new leather add complexity to the round, creamy finish. The exotic 2006 Mille e Una Notte is a terrific effort from Donnafugata. 2006 Mille e Una Notte is predominantly Nero d'Avola.
