This is also attractively spicy with its ripe aromas of poached plum, violet, rose petal and whiff of exotic tea. The exceptionally rich and caressing larger-bodied flavors exhibit fine power on the concentrated, palate coating and lingering finish where touches of warmth and sweetness appear. This offers solid quality but at the risk of being overly picky, it's not quite as well-balanced as the best here. Drink 2034+

The Millemann Clos de la Roche is a robust wine, yet there are some very open raspberry and mulberry aromas with delicate floral notes on the initial attack. The texture is supple yet tannic, and the finish is pleasantly persistent. This wine has none of the rusticity of the 2021 vintage — it is a marvellous wine. The grapes were fermented either as whole clusters or as whole berries, with a gentle extraction of pumping over early and foot-treading at the end before ageing in a new Tronçais cask for 14 months.

65-70% whole bunch vinification. The Millemann 2022 Clos de la Roche has one of the deepest darkest colours, with a little touch of reduction, that is slightly hiding the detail of the fruit. The intensity though is undeniable, with firm tannins throughout the palate but such an intensity of fruit, in a slightly sunnier style.
