Tasting notes
Tasted alongside the 2005 and 2006, you can see a leap in quality with the 2009 vintage – offering a fresher style and brighter fruit. The wine is still broader than the new iteration of the wine (from 2024), the tannins are still chunky yet ripe, the deep fruit complemented by horse sweat, barnyard and leather, with smoky, spicy tones on the long finish.

Deep ruby. Powerfully scented aromas of ripe cherry, cassis and blueberry, with sexy floral and incense flourishes building in the glass. Sweet and deeply concentrated, offering suave dark fruit liqueur and violet pastille flavors plus notes of vanilla, mocha and allspice. Shows real vivacity for its heft and power and finishes sweet, smoky and very long, with supple tannins building slowly. Drink this alluring wine now with some aeration or, better yet, hang onto it for at least another five years
