Score 93/100 · Drink 2025-2060, Mark Squires, Jul 2018

The 2016 Vintage Port is a field blend from old vines aged for six months in wood and 16 months in stainless steel. It comes in with 117 grams of residual sugar. This was only in bottle about ten days when seen. The color is beautiful, said one of the company's representatives. Indeed, it is full-on Vintage Port in that regard. It's not bad in other ways. Aromatic and elegant, this open nicely with a couple of hours in a glass, rounding out, filling the mouth and coating the palate. It seems big and concentrated, without being burly. This is an accessible Port—if you give it some air—say, three hours in a glass. If you do, it turns into something seductive and more sumptuous, losing most of the sharp edges. Giving it a decade or 15 years in the cellar will be a much better idea, though.
