Score 90/100 · Drink 2001-2013, Robert Parker, Oct 2001
The 1998 Syrah Case Via (100% Syrah aged one year in French oak) exhibits a classic bacon fat, blackberry, creme de cassis character, full-bodied, smoky flavors, rustic tannin, and gorgeous levels of fruit, extract, and ripeness. The only flaw in this impressive, somewhat internationally-styled offering is the slightly elevated tannin. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. Importer: Vinifera Imports, Ronkonkoma, NY; tel.
