Smoking good stuff, with ample cassis, flowers, graphite, and spicy oak, the 2021 Château Ripeau brings more richness and depth than most, offering medium to full-bodied weight, fine, ripe tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's a beautiful Saint-Emilion to drink over the coming 10-15 years.

The 2021 Ripeau seems to have lost some of the delineation that it showed at primeur, unfolding with pleasant brambly red fruit mixed with cedar, though it needs more precision. The palate is sweet on the entry with strawberry pastille and candied orange peel. At 14% alcohol in 2021, this is just a little saccharine in style. It is attractive but it could to show a little more restraint.
The 2021 Ripeau is a very pretty, floral Saint-Émilion, with gorgeous red cherry fruit, rose petal and cinnamon. This is very elegant and lifted. Notes of mint, blood orange and spice linger. What a pleasant surprise.
