Tasting notes
Even better than straight out of cask, the 2015 Gigondas offers up notions of garrigue, violet, clove and plummy fruit. It's full-bodied, ripe and plush, but it doesn't veer into the chocolate spectrum, instead remaining fresh and focused on the long, vibrant finish.

The 2015 Gigondas is also impressive and shows a more focused, structured style. Lavender, pepper, leafy herbs and wild strawberry notes flow to a medium to full-bodied, structured 2015 that has solid mid-palate depth and a balanced, age-worthy style. Ideally, readers will have both of these vintages in their cellar!
Saturated ruby. Highly perfumed red fruit liqueur, incense and Asian spice scents show impressive clarity and pick up a smoky element with air. Sappy, sweet and concentrated, offering juicy black raspberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors and a hint of spicecake. Closes on a zesty mineral note, displaying excellent focus, building tannins and emphatic, floral-driven persistence.
70% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre. Vinified in concrete tank. Matured for 18-24 months in old oak foudres. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Blackish crimson. Light, fresh, sweet nose with some hint of cabbage and very fine tannins. High-elevation site? Racy Gigondas. (JR)
