Tasting notes
This estate, now owned by Angelo Gaja, has turned out a medium ruby/garnet-colored 1990 Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille with some amber at the edge. It exhibits a complex nose of cedar, tobacco, spices, and ripe, earthy, red and black fruits. Full-bodied and rich, with considerable tannic clout, this is a forceful, large-scaled Brunello. Initially it appears accessible, but the wine quickly closes down as it sits in the glass. It requires another 4-5 years of cellaring and should keep for 15-20 years.
