Tasting notes
The single vineyard 2020 Crozes-Ermitage Le Grand Courtil is on another level. From sedimentary soils on the plain and raised all in oak (15% new), it has gorgeous notes of mulberries, ground pepper, rose petals, and some smoky, earth, reductive nuances. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, this silky, balanced, pure, front end-loaded effort already offers pleasure, yet I suspect it will age gracefully for over a decade.

More serious weight and style but principally built with oak. Buttery, sweet and gras , the oak well integrated but the fruit somewhat submerged. Could develop but at the moment a little heavy and tiring. (JL)
100% Syrah. Cask sample. Big and brooding with a density of dark fruit. Palate reasonably balanced with a juiciness to the fruit, a semblance of freshness and marked tannic bite. Some dryness on the finish. Quite a lot of everything so needs time to come together. (JL)
