This is an Héritiers plot that’s just half a hectare, in the northernmost section of Chevalier-Montrachet, just above Cailleret. An exceptional site, it is cooler than other parts of Montrachet and produces a particularly delicate wine. In 2022, it’s produced a wine of particular finesse. There’s a zingy purity to its fine-boned yet taut structure – stony, long and linear, yet with real bite. With air, an alluring aroma of almond blossom emerges, with a nutty edge to the finish. Impressive.

The 2022 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Les Demoiselles (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) is, as usual, one of the high points of the range, unfurling in the glass with aromas of pear, crisp stone fruit, white flowers, toasted bread, iodine and subtle reduction. Full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's suave and charming, with a layered, vibrant core of fruit and a long, lively finish.

The superb Jadot Chevalier Demoiselles bottling is often my favourite white in their cellar. The 2022 vintage enchants with concentrated aromas of nectarine and passionfruit with notes of linden flowers, hazelnut, and flint. The texture is compact and tightly wound with freshness, but there is no lack of substance here, and the wine lingers impressively on the finish. This wine deserves at least five years in the cellar before opening and should drink well for at least 30 years after the vintage.
