Castiglione Falletto. Mid ruby with broad orange-tinged rim. Reluctant and a little stalky and sweet on the nose. Sweet, compact fruit with lovely chew and length. Just a tiny bit warm on the finish. (WS)

The impressive 2011 Barolo Villero is born in one of the most celebrated vineyards of Castiglione Falletto. The site is known for elegance and power and you get ample doses of both in this well-balanced wine. The intensity of the fruit stands out with cherry, blackberry and cassis. Background tones of balsam herb and pressed rose add to the overall layering and richness. The wine should hold well for many years to come.
