Score 89/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2015

The 2012 Morey St Denis les Ruchots is a little subdued at the moment, just like the Clos Sorbe '12. The palate is more expressive with a smooth and silky opening: red cherries and kirsch, good acidity and offering plenty of spice toward the finish that glides across the mouth. If it can evolve more precision this will merit a higher score.

Saturated dark red. Aromas of red raspberry, menthol and flowers. Juicy, spicy and intense and light on its feet, with sound acidity enlivening the sweet red berry and lavender flavors. Finishes saline and very long, with uncompromising dryness and fine-grained tannins. Subtle hints of leather and brown spices contribute complexity. A superb vintage for this wine. This will be bottled at about 12.9% alcohol, noted Magnien, adding that his maximum chaptalization in 2012 was about 0.7 degree.
