Score 88-90/100 · Drink 2020-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2017
The 2016 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens (actually from Rugiens-Haut) includes around 50% whole-bunch fruit as the vines are relatively young compared to others. It has a tightly wound bouquet that does not really have the flow and fruité of Leroux’s Volnays. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly stalky entry, very stony and a little austere toward the angular finish. It is quite a difficult Pommard to read so I will be parsimonious with my score for now.

Racked once and still in cask. Peppery, rich and racy fruit. Very crisp and raspberry fruit. Crunchy texture. (JR)
