The 2011 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is an attractive wine to drink now and over the next few years. Crushed flowers, dried cherries, tobacco, mint and orange peel are nicely delineated in the glass. The slightly faded, wilted flavors - not uncommon in this vintage - suggest the 2011 is best enjoyed sooner rather than later, although there is good depth and tannic grip backing up the finish.

Serralunga d'Alba. Lightish bricky ruby with pale rim. Lovely gentle red-fruit fragrance bordering on floral. And just a little meaty and spicy too. Incredibly fluid and silky on the palate, almost milky the way it flows across the palate – with some weight but gentle. Deep and long and beautifully balanced. (JH)

Serralunga d’Alba. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Classic orange peel and cherry on the nose. Finely woven, ongoing tannins framing the ripe fruit. Refreshing acidity on the finish. Tactile play between tannins, fruit and acidity. (WS)

Ettore Germano's 2011 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is a fresh and tonic Nebbiolo-based red with a crunchy consistency and pretty aromatic lift. The wine embraces vigor and liveliness. Those same traits translate to the palate where its streamlined texture is deftly contrasted against sweet berry flavors. This is a classic interpretation of the Nebbiolo grape from the Serralunga d'Alba township that is known for bolder, more powerful expressions.
