Tasting notes
The 2018 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru is a wine that Véronique Drouhin is convinced will age for many years, comparing it to the 2012. It has a vibrant, fresh, effervescent bouquet with walnut and smoke aromas billowing from the glass. The very well-balanced palate delivers pitch-perfect acidity, just the right amount of salinity and impressive focus and nervosité on the finish. This comes highly recommended.

They’ve only been making this 4 or 5 years. Cask sample. Spicy and slightly (nicely) smokily reductive aroma – the only wine in which I noticed any reduction at all in this line-up of 2018 Drouhin white burgundies. Deep, intense citrus fruit cut through by quite strident acidity, not yet meshed. All very embryonic but it has depth and intensity and length. Juicy and full of lively energy. (JH)
