Notes of raspberries, blackberries, leafy herbs and spice all emerge from the 2015 Château De Panigon and it’s a competent, medium-bodied, elegant red that has plenty of charm. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 De Panignon has a simple but clean bouquet with plenty of crushed strawberry and raspberry fruit neatly interlaced with the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly animally, savory entry (possibly a touch of brettanomyces but not too serious) and the fruit is allowed to flow on the finish. Not bad at all! Tasted September 2017.

50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot. Sweet, modern oak influence with lots of clove spice on the palate. Finishes with a bitter twist. The nose and finish seem to be from different wines! (RH)
