Tasting notes
Deeply saturated ruby. Powerful, mineral-accented cherry and blackberry scents are complemented by hints of exotic spices, violet and licorice. Supple and broad on the palate, offering intense black and blue fruit, spicecake, salty olive and violet pastille flavors that become sweeter as the wine takes on air. The floral note carries strongly through the lively, mineral-tinged finish, which shows excellent clarity and smooth, slow-building tannins.

96% Syrah, 4% Viognier. Tasted blind. Smoky nose, black-cherry fruit with some olive bitterness making a savoury and fairly austere impression. Moderate length, furry tannins, not much flavour persistence on the finish. Lacks the flair expected. (RH)
