Tasting notes
(almost all de-stemmed fruit, malo in concrete and aging in new demi-muids ) Deep, shimmering magenta. Displays an array of intense black and blue fruit, floral and exotic spice qualities on the deeply perfumed nose, along with suggestions of vanilla, roasted coffee and licorice. In a distinctly substantial style, offering palate-staining blueberry, cherry-cola, floral pastille and fruitcake flavors that show super depth and alluring sweetness. Broad, velvety tannins make a late appearance on a strikingly long, floral-tinged finish that echoes the vanilla and spice notes. Give this one a good amount of age to allow its lumber component a chance to tone itself down.

Big, deep, powerful, fleshy and ABVic, this makes quite an impression with all its layers of ripe, dark sweet, ripe, flesh fruits.
The more modern-styled 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Gaston Philippe gives up more cassis, smoky oak, graphite, and charred earth aromas and flavors. More spice and floral notes develop with time in the glass, it's full-bodied, powerful, and concentrated, with sweet tannin and a great finish. It's not for traditionalists out there but is a brilliant wine that's going to keep for two decades.
Bright violet. Intensely perfumed raspberry and cherry preserve scents are accompanied by garrigue and Asian spice nuances and a smoky mineral nuance. Juicy and appealingly sweet, displaying broad, spice-accented red fruit liqueur and lavender pastille flavors and velvety, seamless texture. Deftly balances richness and vivacity and finishes extremely long and sweet, featuring smooth, harmonious tannins and an echo of candied flowers.
