Tasting notes
The 2018 Barolo Brunate is deep, fleshy and super-expressive right out of the gate. A Barolo of real stature and depth, the 2018 possesses notable intensity in all of its dimensions. Cedar, tobacco, menthol, licorice and dried herbs add layers of nuance to this strapping, potent Barolo. This is a very fine effort for the year.

The 2018 Barolo Brunate shows a moment of ripeness with dark cherry and plum, but it also settles quickly in the glass to reveal pretty layering and complexity that comes into better focus with time. There are layers of smoke, tar, spice, cumin and licorice. You also get dried rose and lilac. This wine does a good job capturing the energy and ripeness of the vintage.
Barolo. Lustrous mid ruby. Lifted, spicy cherry nose and supple, sweet, dense cherry fruit matched by firm tannins, while the acidity is pretty much integrated. Quite rich and long and although this is tannic it is pretty much ready now. Lacks a little in energy. (WS)
The 2018 Barolo Brunate marries finesse with the power that is typical of this site. There's good energy to play off the wine's mid-weight structure. I am looking forward to tasting this from bottle.
