Tasting notes
A little lighter in colour than the Gevrey La Perrière but equally dark fruited, more peppery. The texture is distinctive here, creamy-smooth and the tannins very much in the background. Not quite the same depth of fruit as in La Perrière. More approachable. (JH)

From two parcels, one at the bottom pruned Guyot simple and one at the top of the slopes pruned Cordon Royat adjacent to Jean-Marie Fourrier’s plot, the 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru les Goulots contains 40% whole bunch fruit. It has a pastille-like purity on the nose: raspberry, dark cherry and red plum, rose-petal aromas developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, quite tensile tannins, a dash of spice and a suave, quite rounded finish that is very satisfying. Bon vin.
