Tasted blind. Deep brick. Fragrant, a touch minty, plenty of evolved undergrowth, and freshness from the notable acidity, resolved tannins. Something here that reminds me of chestnuts. (JH)

The 2014 Trottevieille does not show as well as previous bottles although I did taste another during a trip to Bordeaux. I feel that this is more representative with blackberry and cedar on the nose, almost Left Bank in style thanks to the expressive Cabernet Franc. The palate is medium-bodied and very refined, demonstrating impressive precision if not the intensity on the finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
Tasted blind. Rich, ripe nose. Full and dramatic without being overdone. Very neat. Very 2014 (no excess of ripeness or density). Dry finish. (JR)
About the producer
Owned by the Castéja family (of Ch. Batailley), this estate is home to some of the region’s oldest Cabernet Franc vines – with some pre-phylloxera plantings that are over 150 years old.
