Tasting notes
Alain Moueix farms this vineyard biodynamically as he feels that fewer chemicals is a good thing for both the grapes and the human race. The success he has enjoyed at Fonroque has encouraged other producers to follow in his footsteps. Vibrant, rich, sweet cherry and loamy soil aromas jump from the glass of this 2013. Medium-bodied and well-made with a greater sense of completeness and equilibrium than many of its peers, it is an elegant, stylish wine to drink during its first 7-8 years of life.

The 2013 Fonroque comes across as a bit compact, with limited depth and complexity. Sweet red berries, hard candy, flowers and tobacco take shape nicely in the glass, but the mid-palate never really blossoms, which allows the oak tannin to dominate.
