Coming direct from the Domaine's cellars, the 2010 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru puts in an impressive performance. It has a pastille-like purity on the nose, redcurrant and candied orange peel, rose petals and crushed stone. Beautiful delineation. The palate is crisp, almost pixelated, fresh and tensile, with a balletic finish that dances on the tongue. Divine. Drinking perfectly now, but it will certainly keep. Tasted at the La Paulée in Beaune.

Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2010 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Brûlées has a similar bouquet to the 2009 but more contained and linear, more reductive perhaps. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy, bold tannin on the entry, a crisp line of acidity, much more salinity in the mouth with a vibrant, taut finish with just a suggestion of hoisin sauce on the aftertaste. This is a very fine Les Brûlées, though my allegiance lies with the 2009. For now. Tasted June 2015.

The 2010 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées is intensely mineral and vibrant. Dark red cherries, exotic spices and crushed flowers flesh out beautifully in this multi-dimensional, expansive Burgundy. The Brûlées is just a touch reduced today, but it is impossible to miss the wine's pedigree and sheer class.

(vinified with about 20% whole clusters): Good deep red. Red berries, spices and smoky minerality on the slightly reduced nose. Sweet, chewy and rich, with terrific depth and breadth to the tangy raspberry, spice and smoke flavors. Really spreads out to saturate the palate. Almost atypically sweet for a wine from this estate, and I'm not complaining! The broad, very long finish features fine-grained, noble tannins. A great showing today. (Incidentally, I was not able to taste the Nuits Lavieres or the Vosne Chaumes or Suchots, as those wines had just been racked.)
