Mainly Merlot from the St Anne parcel apparently. Smells pretty sharp rather than rounded and Merloty. But an awful lot of work has clearly gone into rounding our the edges on the palate. Bravo! Pretty clever to conjure this much pleasure from a second wine from this terrible vintage – but it still seems overpriced to me. A bit pinched and hollow on the end. Make sure you drink this with food. (JR)

63% Merlot, 30% Cabernet sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot. 30% new oak. Little bit of reductive rubberiness. Quite light tannin, considering the appellation. Gentle, tip-toe balance and just slightly light on the finish. (RH)

The Merlot-based Les Tourelles de Longueville is soft, fruity and accessible. Sweet red berries, crushed flowers, mint and spices meld together in a pliant, approachable Pauillac to drink upon release and over the near term. The blend is 63% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot.
