A small neighbor of Monbousquet (only 5 acres in size), this is a 100% Merlot wine made from 35-year-old vines cropped at 28 hectoliters per hectare. With admirable size, intensity, and power, the dense ruby/purple-colored 2000 offers thick, chewy, black cherry, and currant fruit, medium to full body, low acidity, and layers of glycerin. It should be delicious young, but evolve for 12 years. The vineyard produced 625 cases in 2000.

Saturated medium ruby. Rather laid-back aromas of black cherry, blackberry and sexy oak spices. Then rich, creamy and seamless in the middle palate, with black cherry, rust and mineral flavors of noteworthy depth. Tannins are ripe but firm.
