Tasting notes
Poliziano's 2014 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone is a deeply intriguing wine. In 2014, the flagship Asinone doesn't have its signature depth, power or concentration, but the wine does not suffer at all from that. If anything, the personality of this cool vintage allows the wine's aromatics to come through very nicely. Sweet herb, tobacco, mint, anise and bright red cherry fruit are all beautifully delineated. The 2014 is perhaps a touch compact, but it makes up for that with its superb persistence. This is a terrific showing from Poliziano.

The 2014 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone is a deep and complete wine. Only 10,000 bottles were produced in order for the winery to keep momentum going (and not skip a vintage) despite severely reduced yields in 2014. The wine is silky and elegant with bright berry nuances of dried raspberry and cherry. It closes with balsam intensity followed by grilled herb and licorice. Asinone is 100% Sangiovese.
