Castiglione Falletto. Maturing mid ruby with a bright orange rim. Hints of mint and fruit cake on the nose. Developed minty dried-fruit palate which has some charm, but is ageing fast. (WS)

Very different from the Cerequio Barolo, the 2012 Barolo Villero delivers its elegance with distinctive flair. The Villero cru is known for structured wines, but this expression offers unique silkiness and smoothness. The fruit flavors play long on the palate with lingering tones of cassis, dried cranberry, licorice and balsam herb. Indian spice, tar and ash are also part of the wine's inner-workings.
