Bright medium red. Red fruits, smoky underbrush and flowers on the nose. Silky-sweet on the palate, offering lovely spine and cut to the flavors of red cherry, redcurrant, spices and cedary oak. Finishes with a positive tart edge. A terrific Bourgogne. (Incidentally, Trapet's entry-level Bourgogne Passetoutgrain à Minima, a 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay from a 1965 planting just outside the Gevrey appellation, offers intriguing elements of red fruits and dried flowers and a lovely balance of sweetness and acidity. It should be very easy to drink. I rated it 87.)

The 2015 Bourgogne Pinot Noir has a well-defined dark cherry and crushed strawberry-scented bouquet with subtle damp earthy aromas filtering through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with bright red cherry and cranberry fruit. For a generic red, this has commendable structure with appreciable precision on the finish. This is well worth seeking out - this is a very finely crafted Bourgogne Rouge.
