Tasting notes
From two sought-after plots of land, Combe du Dessus just in front of the Château de Chambertin and En Champs a little further up the slope in front of the premier cru Champeaux. The vines are between 35 and 55 years old. 30% whole bunch, 17% new barrels. Light filtration. 1,600 bottles and 25 magnums made. Pretty deep crimson. Sumptuously sweet, spicy nose with lovely structure and great balance between sweetness and acidity. I'm really looking forward to the Gevrey Premier Cru Corbeaux now if it's to be better than this! There's quite a bit of fine tannin. Gosh, this is good! QGV (JR)

From two parcels, one opposite the old Château de Gevrey and one in En Champs, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village includes 30% whole bunch. It has quite striking dark berry fruit on the nose, laced with truffle and a touch of oyster shell. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. Veins of blue fruit lend a slight Marsannay-like feel toward the plush finish. Very fine.
