Tasting notes
Neive. Tasted blind. Quite dark ruby. Deep, heady, complex and generous nose with a hint of leather. Plenty of ripe soft fruit that is already a little evolved. Seems older than it is, but definitely seductive. Gripping, slightly drying tannins on the finish might indicate that the grapes were late harvested in order to get the tannins ripe. All of that might change with more bottle age. (WS)

The 2016 Barbaresco Serraboella is rich, powerful and explosive, with tremendous depth. A Barbaresco of structure and intensity. Just as it showed from barrel, the 2016 is powerful and imposing, with layers of deeply-pitched, balsamic aromas and flavors woven into its virile, tannic frame. Readers will have to be patient with the 2016, as it is nowhere near ready. Once again, the Cigliuti Barbaresco Serraboella is one of the stand outs of the year.
The 2016 Barbaresco Serraboella is quite a bit more put together than the Vie Erte. A powerful, deep wine, the 2016 exudes concentration and textural richness from start to finish. The 2016 is naturally an infant, but it, too, is shaping up to be superb. Firm grippy tannins extend the finish effortlessly.
