Comune di Montalcino. Bright pale red. Rather indistinct nose with some autumn leaves. Sweet, rich start and then refined tannins. Still quite young and angular but promising. Just a bit scrawny on the end for now. (JR)

Vigna Soccorso is planted to head-prunded or alberello vines. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Soccorso is a densely concentrated and rich expression of Sangiovese with ample color saturation and aromatic intensity. The wine is smooth and nicely integrated in terms of mouthfeel. In fact, the silkiness of its texture is this Brunello's most impressive quality. It shows finesse and elegance that will last for the next decade. You feel the power and the 14% alcohol on the finish.
Tasted blind. Deep ruby. A little wild and with a hints of malt and a hint of leather. ‘Natural’? Gorgeous, supple, succulent fruit with fine, gripping tannins. Already accessible, but has the concentration as well as structure to improve further. Long, a little rustic and genuine. (WS)
