Juicy black cherries, woodsmoke, sappy flowers, and tobacco all emerge from the 2021 Château Rouget, a medium-bodied, enjoyable Pomerol that has some chocolaty oak in the background, juicy yet integrated acidity, and a good finish.
The 2021 Rouget has an attractive, pure bouquet with black cherries, cassis and light violet petal scents, delineated and less opulent than recent vintages, to its own advantage. The palate is medium-bodied with a structured opening and fine acidity. Crisp black cherry and blueberry fruit lead to a linear but fresh, easygoing finish. This is a well-crafted Pomerol that should age with style.
The 2021 Rouget has come together beautifully. Bold, juicy and expressive, the 2021 possesses notable palate presence and forward appeal. Macerated dark cherry, plum, leather, menthol, spice, mocha and pomegranate build effortlessly. Plush, elegant contours wrap it all together in style. Rouget is not super-complex, but it is an absolute delight.
About the producer
Close to the Pomerol church, the Labruyère family purchased this property in 1994. They immediately set to work, restructuring the vineyard, renovating the winery and allowing the property to emerge from the shadows.
