Tight, liquorice nose. Very pure, verging but not trespassing on austere. Stone-fruit flavour and chiselled structure. For the moment just a bit too introvert. (JR)

Very pale colour. Smoky reduction, a light toastiness of oak, and pithy lemons on the nose. There is a touch of tropical fruit too. The palate has enough generosity in texture while remaining saline, mineral and taut. Citrus dominates the fruit profile. Steely and long. Very impressive drive that should flesh out and improve with time in bottle. (TP)
Coming all from the and 47-year-old vines of the Bohan Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast, the 2017 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast is an exotic, perfumed effort that offers lots of citrus and orchard fruits intermixed with notes of brioche and a distinct earthy minerality. Medium-bodied, nicely textured, and elegant on the palate, this classic cool-climate Chardonnay is a great introduction into the wines of this estate.
Very pale. Very light nose. Are California 'new wave' producers following their Australian counterparts and over-valuing acidity? Pretty tart and taut. Chewy finish. Wait and see…. (JR)
